Finding a Theme for your Wedding

Figuring out the theme, color, and décor for your once-in-a-lifetime day is tricky. How do you express your style, while still making it wedding appropriate?

Many brides don’t know where to start when it comes to this aspect of their wedding. At WedPack, we have had the pleasure of working with brides who knew exactly what they wanted, brides who had absolutely no idea and not much specific care, as well as, brides who knew what theme they wanted to have, but did not know how to implement it.

We have come up with a general guide for brides to use when they first start planning their wedding. Below is a list to simplify to process:

  1. Consider the season in which you are getting married. If summer, use lighter and brighter colours; if winter, you can go with a winter wonderland theme (silver, crystals, whites, pearls). Autumn, use warmer bright colours (browns, gold, tangerine, burgundy). Spring, you could use bright, but deeper colours (blues, greens, purple, yellow).
  2. Consider your venue. Is it outdoors, indoors, banquet hall, backyard, golf club? Work with your surroundings to eliminate extra costs. Ask your venue to show you photos of previously hosted events; this will give you an idea of what the venue looks like when it’s all “dressed-up”.
  3. What budget are you working with? If you have a high budget for your décor, don’t go overboard with different elements; you don’t want it to look overdone and overwhelming. If
you are working on the lower end of the budget, be creative! Use your venue to your advantage, incorporate it’s features to compliment your vision. Make some stuff yourself! Put your bridal party to work, they will be more than happy to help out!
  4. Consider your personal style; If you love a certain colour, if you like a certain flower, make it work. Make your style visible, yet settle.

The internet is your best friend! Use it to your advantage to access images of other weddings; you will get so many ideas that you can sculpt into YOUR perfect wedding.
