Finding a Theme for your Wedding

Figuring out the theme, color, and décor for your once-in-a-lifetime day is tricky. How do you express your style, while still making it wedding appropriate?

Many brides don’t know where to start when it comes to this aspect of their wedding. At WedPack, we have had the pleasure of working with brides who knew exactly what they wanted, brides who had absolutely no idea and not much specific care, as well as, brides who knew what theme they wanted to have, but did not know how to implement it.

We have come up with a general guide for brides to use when they first start planning their wedding. Below is a list to simplify to process:

  1. Consider the season in which you are getting married. If summer, use lighter and brighter colours; if winter, you can go with a winter wonderland theme (silver, crystals, whites, pearls). Autumn, use warmer bright colours (browns, gold, tangerine, burgundy). Spring, you could use bright, but deeper colours (blues, greens, purple, yellow).
  2. Consider your venue. Is it outdoors, indoors, banquet hall, backyard, golf club? Work with your surroundings to eliminate extra costs. Ask your venue to show you photos of previously hosted events; this will give you an idea of what the venue looks like when it’s all “dressed-up”.
  3. What budget are you working with? If you have a high budget for your décor, don’t go overboard with different elements; you don’t want it to look overdone and overwhelming. If
you are working on the lower end of the budget, be creative! Use your venue to your advantage, incorporate it’s features to compliment your vision. Make some stuff yourself! Put your bridal party to work, they will be more than happy to help out!
  4. Consider your personal style; If you love a certain colour, if you like a certain flower, make it work. Make your style visible, yet settle.

The internet is your best friend! Use it to your advantage to access images of other weddings; you will get so many ideas that you can sculpt into YOUR perfect wedding.

Bachelorette parties: great ideas

So… your friend is getting married and you have been given the fun task of planning her last night as a single lady, you have great ideas in mind but you are looking for something unique and interesting. Well, this is the right place; we have couple of suggestions that will put a smile on every blushing bride to be.

Of course, you can always go with one of the most common ideas, yet always fun to look at; hiring an exotic dancer, or going to a strip club. You can always spice up this activity, by hiring a male and a female dancer to do an erotic show together!

However, if you want to change things up and give your friend a night to remember, here are some more creative suggestions:

You can always do a fun dancing activity such as take a private pole dancing class, a belly dancing class or dance the night away at a luxurious night club with bottle service. If your friend loves music and dancing, you can always incorporate some karaoke at the beginning of the evening, then move the party into a hotel room in which you’ll invite the exotic dancers to. Finish the night with a privet booth with bottle service at a club of your choice and dance the night away, try to make it close to the hotel so you guys can return safely to sleep it out

For a more relaxing night for a bride to be that’s not into anything too crazy, we suggest taking over one of the bridesmaids’ homes for a slumber party! It’s a great way to spend the
night together yet save some money and effort. You can do pot luck and have a nice dinner, make all the favorite foods of the bride to be, she will sure appreciate it. To make the evening
interesting, book an entertainment of some sort, such as sex specialist that comes with her own props or an astrologist that can make everybody a yearly chart… there are many options as to which kind of professional to book, by the end of the day you should be able to tell by knowing the bride to be and what kind of a person she is.

Another idea is to mix both relaxing and bonding time, with crazy and drunken time… you can start the evening with a nice dinner, book a movie theater for a screening of the bride’s  favorite movie. Get dressed for a night on a town and go bar hopping! Set yourself a goal and reach it. You can always book a limo for this night and make it drive you guys to all the bars that way you all can drink with no worries.

Whatever your budget, interests or party of choice, as long as you have the bride to be in mind and the safety of your group, you’ll have a successful party. Even if you see one of our ideas as suitable, then we did our jobs!

Choosing a wedding gown

Shopping for a wedding gown is one of the most personal, fun, exiting but difficult things all at once. There is a lot of research involved, some self-reflection and of course, budget consideration. Keep in mind that this dress is for one night, but one of the most memorable nights you will ever experience; therefore, like most brides, you will invest a lot of time and money seeking for the ultimate wedding dress.

To help out, WedPack collected some great advise from our brides, ladies that “have been there”, close friends and our own experience; just a few pointers that hopefully will help reduceyou’re your stress levels in looking for a gown.

First, take the time to reflect at who you are and what you want. By that, we mean think about your style and your personality, decide what kind of silhouette you like and what kind of bride you are. Think about what color you want the dress to be, the length and the style. There are a lot of parameters to consider so make it fun, discuss it with your closest friends and family … us ladies always love to chat about clothes, especially wedding gowns!

Second, do your research! We understand that it’s fun to play dress up and try on a lot of wedding gowns; however, keep in mind that unless you have a specific idea in mind and know exactly what you want, you will only get more confused. Go online, get a few bridal magazines, look at various photos of wedding gowns; there are plenty of great designers with unbelievable collections. Narrow it down from the comfort of your home; however, keep in mind that not everything you will like will be flattering on your body type, so we suggest that you narrow it down to several options and silhouettes. You can always print the pictures and take them with you to the bridal stores.

Third, when going to shop for the dress with friends and family, consider inviting just a few of your closest friends and closest family members. By keeping the wedding gown shopping experience to a smaller group, you can actually take the time to listen to their advices and their suggestions. You will feel more comfortable trying out different gowns in front of them, you can be sure that you will receive truthful and real advice,  and you won’t be overwhelmed by all the different opinions surrounding you.

Finally, we recommend that you set a budget for your dress before going shopping. Consider the total cost of your wedding and how much you are willing to spend on the gown. Set a reasonable and realistic range, don’t limit you self to one number, this way you will have more options open to you yet there will be a “glass ceiling”. We don’t recommend trying dresses that are out of your budget range, it may cause frustration and confusion. Don’t worry; there are plenty of beautiful gowns at any price point.

Shopping for a wedding gown is a great experience, but like always, there are bumps down the road and not everything will go smoothly. Don’t be discouraged, the end result is worth it, you will look more beautiful than ever and you will have the prettiest memories from this experience!

Congratulations, WedPack
